U.S. POINTER: The effect of lifestyle changes on memory loss

What we are studying

The purpose of this research study is to see if lifestyle changes can protect memory and thinking ability (cognition) as we age. Participants in one group receive information, tools and support to help them design a lifestyle program that best fits their own individual needs and schedules. Participants in another group receive the same information, but will also complete a more structured lifestyle program that includes physical exercise, a healthy diet, and thinking (cognitive) exercise.

Who is Eligible

  • All Genders
  • Races:
    • White
    • African American
    • Asian
    • American Indian or Alaska Native
    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
    • Other
  • All Ethnicities
  • Ages 60 - 79

Eligibility Criteria

  • People with first degree family history (mother; father; sister; brother) of memory loss
  • People that do not exercise on a regular basis
  • People whose current health status may put them at increased risk of memory loss in the future

Compensation

Compensation will be discussed with each potential participant.
