Emotions and Performance: A Functional Imaging Study

What we are studying

The purpose of this study is to help us determine changes in brain function and structure when people experience emotions during a performance task.

Who is Eligible

  • All Genders
  • Races:
    • White
    • African American
    • Asian
    • American Indian or Alaska Native
    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
    • Other
  • All Ethnicities
  • Ages 18 - 64

Eligibility Criteria

  • Healthy adults between 18 and 64 years of age.

What is involved

  • If you choose to participate in this study
  • You will do a performance task while undergoing a brain scan. First
  • You will fill out an fMRI Screening Safety Form
  • To be sure that it is safe for you to go in the fMRI scanner. During the rest of the research visit
  • Which will last about 1 hour
  • You will be in an fMRI scanner and be required to keep your head still the entire time.


You will be paid $60 for completing the MRI study even if your scan must be terminated early for whatever reason.
