The use of Amoxicillin to treat bacterial vaginosis

What we are studying

The purpose of this study is to determine if treatment with Amoxicillin eradicates a bacteria found to cause bacterial vaginosis.

Who is Eligible

  • Genders:
    • Women
  • Races:
    • White
    • African American
    • Asian
    • American Indian or Alaska Native
    • Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
    • Other
  • All Ethnicities
  • Ages 18 - 45

Eligibility Criteria

  • Women not currently experiencing any vaginal problems
  • Women willing to have a vaginal exam and commit to 3 weeks of participation
  • Women willing to take Amoxicillin by mouth for 7 days
  • Women who have had no treatment with antibiotics or antifungal drugs within the past 14 days
  • Women that are not currently pregnant

What is involved

  • There are three (3) study visits that consist of questions about your health.

Compensation

$25 for the screening visit and $50 at each subsequent visit.
